Heh, we might have seen you on the road! We were up crosscountry skiing for weekend at Bear Valley. Somehow we managed to skirt right through the traffic in Murphys, although there was a TON that was heading from Murphys into Angels Camp through that difficult end of the main street stop sign.

    Hey Guy,

Hope you enjoyed the skiing.  We went up to Murphy's for the wine, so if we WANTED to get more, we would have had to brave the crowds.  We decided against it, as we'd already enjoyed some wine at stops around the town rather than IN town.  Enjoyable place to spend a weekend, that's for sure!

Two things, show specific. First, you English teacher, you...there are 2.5 cm in an inch, not 1.25 or whatever you were trying to come up with!

Second, I really like Sante Fe Rails much better than Clippers, in part due to the much better components. It was put out by GMT awhile ago, as one of their experiments with "family" games, has a euro style thick gameboard, big rail pieces you lay down, nice cards etc. It takes just under an hour with 4 experienced players, but plays very well from 3 to 5--we played it several times a year when I was running lunch-hour games at my work. For our crowd, it has the perfect amount of "mean." It's been a long time since I played Clippers last, but I have played both in a relatively close period of time, and prefer SFR. SFR also has some short-lines which have a chance to come out and score a few more points for those that can take advantage of them. Plus you can play a boomtown card to add points to some of the lower value cities--can't remember if Clippers has a similar mechanism to that?

The skiing was great btw lots of fantastic fresh powder coming down the whole time and almost no people willing to brave the cold with us!

I'll have to look into playing Santa Fe Rails at The Gathering.  It would be interesting to compare/contrast since I just played Clippers again.  Clippers DOESN'T have a doubler mechanism for lower-value cities, so that might be an interesting addition.
